I know I’m not alone when I say that I have a slight addiction to Pinterest. While my obsession with pinning comes & goes, I truly love how easy it is to find inspiration. So many beautiful images! It is also a great way to file away ideas for the future, eg. designing & decorating my future dream house, fun holiday ideas, travel and fashion inspiration, and other random DIY projects. Here are a few gorgeous photos I’ve pinned lately to my Decorating Ideas board. If you’re interested in seeing more, follow me here!
I love typography. Don’t know much about the technical details behind the making of a good typeface, but I know what I like (and don’t like) when I see it. The film Helvetica is a great introduction not only to the helvetica typeface and its prolific use, but to typography in general. That reminds me, it’s time to buy the latest Stendig Calendar…ps. if you live in Toronto, you can find one at Studio Pazo.
I never thought it would happen, but I’ve given up paper books for an eReader. As much as I love the feel of a real book in my hands, it’s so much more convenient to carry around a digital book (or three). However, just because I don’t read paper books as often, it doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate their beauty. Here are some gorgeous libraries – a little literary eye candy for a Friday!
So I have a slight infatuation with beautifully designed chairs. The lines, material, fabrication…Most of my favourites were designed in the 1950s, however there are many contemporary chairs that I would happily bring into my home. I’m slowly acquiring a few favourites, however I know that realistically I will never own every chair that I admire. It might be a little cliche, but the chair at the top of my wish list is the Eames lounger. I was in love even before I knew who Ray and Charles Eames were. Ideally it will be a slightly-beat up, well-loved vintage version, but I wouldn’t turn away a brand new one if it suddenly appeared on my doorstep!
A few honourable mentions…
